Burns & Burn Contractures
Burn injuries can affect much more than the surface of the skin. Depending on their severity and location, they may result in delayed wound healing, prominent scars and contractures that restrict movement. Appropriate management from the early stages can play an important role in both functional recovery and the eventual appearance of the affected area.
At Shilp Hospital, treatment is planned according to the extent of the burn, the tissues involved and whether the patient is being treated for a recent injury or an established burn scar or contracture. Reconstructive procedures may be considered where scar tissue has caused tightness, deformity or restriction of movement.
The objective of treatment is to support healing, restore function wherever possible and improve the appearance and flexibility of burn-affected tissue.
